Summary of the contracting process

North Lanarkshire Council has awarded a contract to appoint a specialist demolition engineer as part of their extensive 25-year programme to re-provision its tower estate. This urgent procurement, due to partially demolished high/low-rise blocks requiring immediate attention, was processed under the "limited" procurement method, specifically without prior publication of a call for competition, to address the project's extreme urgency. The contract, valued at £1,000,000, was signed on 20th September 2024, with PERSES Ltd selected as the supplier. The primary location for the services is in Motherwell, UKM84 region, focusing on the general public services industry category, particularly demolition engineering services (CPV 71312000).

This tender presents significant opportunities for SMEs in the construction and demolition sectors, particularly those specialising in structural engineering, demolition methodologies, and project administration. Businesses providing expert advice on partially demolished structures, engaging competent contractors, and ensuring the technical and safety standards of demolition projects can leverage this opportunity to forge long-term relationships for future phases of the programme. The contract demands urgent, high-quality specialist services, making it ideal for companies with proven expertise in handling complex demolition projects under stringent timelines.
