Competent suppliers are located in other areas of the UK but these tend to have a limited and specific geographical reach. Previous tendering exercises have resulted in a single bid from this supplier. This is a specialist service which requires indepth knowledge of the psychiatric inpatient setting in Glasgow. To achieve a comparable level of skill, suppliers would need to undertake extensive training over a considerable period of time which would result in disruption to the existing service- a transition period of a minimum of 12 months would be required.",
