Notice Title
Award of PKC13128 Social Media relationships
Notice Description
Perth & Kinross Council were in a position to allocate additional funding to expand mental and emotional wellbeing support through universal whole class and/or small group input to promote healthy relationships and safe use of social media. This will be delivered in upper primary classes and in secondary schools.Engaging children and young people in education about the mental health impacts of social media is vital for fostering awareness, resilience, and safe online practices. Social media has increasingly become a key part of their lives, but it comes with challenges to mental well-being that can affect mood, self-esteem, and social relationships. It is anticipated that providers will work closely with school staff to tailor inputs that will enhance the social and emotional curriculum currently being delivered by school staff. Delivery can be a whole class level or in small groups, as per best practice for the school setting/individuals involved. The target classes will be dependent upon discussion at Local Management Group (cluster) level. The timings of sessions would be planned together with school staff to ensure it works best for the children and the particular setting.Evaluation of this work is fundamental. The evaluation should give a holistic overview of the effectiveness in educating children & young people about the mental health impacts of social media, building their resilience, emotional awareness, and ability to healthily navigate a digital world.
