To have a consultant to work on and deliver 5 School Travel Plans for the Schools of Orkney. This work involves knowledge of transportation, the local context of Orkney and consultation and engagement with school children, teachers. head teachers and parent councils; plus, relevant officers of the Council (Roads, Education, Development and Marine Planning). School Travel Plans pull together information on the school and the school staff, children and other users and how they travel to the facility by means of active travel (walking, wheeling and cycling). School Travel Plans will have actions that will detail physical interventions that aim to provide safe active travel routes to school. Active travel is a sustainable transport mode that has demonstrable physical and mental health benefits.
