Enhancing the evidence base for monitoring circular business behaviours and innovations in Scotland
Notice Description
The Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024 establishes a legal framework to help Scotland advance further in the transition to a circular economy and includes a specific requirement for Scottish Ministers to develop a new CE strategy. The Scottish Government has been developing the CEMIF to inform the development of the strategy and to track progress towards a CE. The draft framework includes a vision for the circular economy in Scotland to 2045 and eight specific outcomes (see below), two of which (outcomes 5 and 8) concern business activities and behaviours (as related to the circular economy) in particular.

There are three key requirements in this commissioned research: 1. Identifying and effectively utilising existing evidence to track 'circular' innovations and the emergence of circular enterprise start-ups; 2. Development of a Circular Economy Business Behaviours Tracker; 3. Data collection, analysis, and reporting (see later section for project Outputs and Deliverables).
