Perth & Kinross Council ('the Council') is seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced provider, to provide short breaks and practical caring support to children and young people with disabilities and their parents/carers in Perth and Kinross. The service will provide access to short breaks and practical caring support for parent carers and children/young people in their homes and communities. Children and young people with disabilities will have better access to the support they need to meaningfully participate in their communities, to be included and to have opportunities to enjoy their childhoods/play and achieve their life potential. Support will be trauma informed and promote the rights of children and young people with disabilities. The aim of the service is to place children, young people, and parent carers at the centre of planning and directing their own support in line with their identified needs. The service will strengthen family wellbeing by ensuring that parent carers have the support they need at the earliest opportunity. Children and young people will have opportunities to learn independent living skills and to participate in activities and social opportunities. If this is achieved there will be a reduction in the likelihood of parents/carers experiencing burnout and children will be sustained in their home communities and with their families. The service will be flexible to provide support when children, young people and their parents/carers require this which will include evenings and weekends.
