Award of PROVISION FOR INDIA MARKET RESEARCH
Notice Description
India's rapid growth, demographic advantage, and policy focus on digitalisation, renewable energy, and manufacturing make it a compelling destination for trade and investment collaboration. For Scotland, which boasts global leadership in renewable energy, food and drink, higher education, financial services, and life sciences, deepening engagement with India can unlock mutual opportunities in trade, innovation partnerships, and inward/outward investments. The signing of the recent UK-India Free Trade Agreement will unlock a raft of greater opportunities for Scottish businesses once the FTA is ratified in 2026. Our knowledge of the opportunities in India is limited and narrow and a broader overview is required so that we can calibrate our engagement accordingly. The Scottish Government seeks to commission research that will provide a comprehensive overview of India's macroeconomic, social, and business environment, including its regulatory landscape. This research will also analyse trade and investment dynamics between India and the UK (with a specific focus on Scotland) and map Indian states and regions that could serve as strategic partners based on sectoral synergies with Scotland's economic strengths.
