Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government, located at 5 Atlantic Quay in Glasgow, is in the planning stage of a procurement process, titled "Building Standards Research and Technical Services Framework." This initiative falls under the industry category of "General public services" and is intended to support the Building Standards Division with a series of research commissions over 36 to 48 months. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage and operated by the government as a central purchasing body. The Request for Information (RFI) was published on 20th March 2026, indicating the government's intention to gather feedback from the supplier market. Future notices are expected to be communicated by 20th April 2026.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in research and technical services within the construction and standards sector. Given the scope for diverse technical expertise and innovative methodologies, companies that provide services in areas such as consultancy, engineering, and architectural research could find this framework particularly beneficial. Additionally, businesses with robust delivery capabilities and adaptive research methodologies will be well-positioned to compete for commissions, as the framework aims to address evolving policy needs. The procurement, covered by the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA), is set to enhance business engagement with the Scottish Government, fostering growth opportunities for firms aligned with the specified procurement services classifications.
