Microgrid Feasibility Study for Barra and Vatersay
Notice Description
On behalf of community-owned Barra and Vatersay Wind Energy Limited, a feasibility study is sought for microgrid and private-wire options on the connected islands of Barra and Vatersay, Outer Hebrides. Scope: baseline demand and growth; review of existing network and critical loads; options development for integrated generation, storage and control architectures (grid-tied and islanded modes); high-level techno-economic modelling (CAPEX, OPEX, levelised cost); regulatory, policy, planning and grid-code review; Distribution Network Operator (Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks) interface and connection options; protection, control and black-start concepts; ownership models and community benefit; risk assessment and implementation roadmap. Outputs include a concise feasibility report and assumptions register, a non-technical summary for stakeholders, working model files in an open and reusable format, and a stakeholder presentation/workshop.
