Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Borders Council is currently inviting bids for their "Funded Early Learning and Childcare Places Framework Agreement," which will reopen in May 2026. This procurement process is focused on enhancing early learning and childcare services, particularly nursery and childminder services, throughout the UKM91 region. The tender process involves re-establishing the framework agreement to include new providers who meet specific national standards and legislative criteria. The procurement is conducted via an open procedure, with an overall value of £3,000,000.00. Interested parties had until 1 June 2026 to submit their electronic applications.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in early childhood services. Companies from the voluntary, independent, and private sectors that provide nursery or childminder services for children aged 2 to 4 years can capitalise on this opportunity to join a local government framework. By participating, businesses can secure a stable stream of government-supported clients and enhance their reputation by meeting rigorous national standards in education and care. This opportunity will particularly benefit those with relevant experience and capabilities to navigate statutory requirements, while ensuring high-quality childcare service delivery.
