Summary of the contracting process

South Lanarkshire Council has completed a procurement process for the "Delivery of Foundation Apprenticeships", focused on the education industry in the Hamilton and East Kilbride areas. The process, initiated without prior competition, concluded with a contract awarded to South Lanarkshire College for a period from 27th August 2024 to 28th May 2026, with the contract valued at £235,000. The Council opted for a limited procurement method, applying a rationale that accounted for the unique, locally-aligned delivery capabilities of South Lanarkshire College, an SQA and SDS approved institution. This procurement was part of a broader service category under the CPV classification 80000000.

This tender presents growth opportunities predominantly for educational institutions and service providers equipped to deliver foundational work-based learning programmes. Businesses with expertise in educational services, particularly those familiar with delivering accredited apprentice programmes in collaboration with local authorities and skills development bodies, would have been well-suited to engage in this procurement. The method adopted highlights the importance of strategic location for facilitating attendance, underscoring the advantage for firms within the vicinity, provided they meet specific technical and educational delivery qualifications required by South Lanarkshire Council and its managing partners.
