Summary of the contracting process

South Lanarkshire Council has completed a procurement process for the "Delivery of Foundation Apprenticeships", focusing on the general public services industry category. The project is situated in the UKM95 region, with the college, school, and work-based elements of the apprenticeships delivered by South Lanarkshire College. The contract, valued at £243,000 GBP, was signed on 2nd September 2025, and is now actively in the award stage. The procurement process was undertaken without a prior call for competition, given the unique position of the South Lanarkshire College as the only approved local learning provider for this programme. This tender demonstrates a coordinated effort involving multiple stakeholders, including South Lanarkshire Council as the buying authority and Skills Development Scotland managing the programme on behalf of the Scottish Government.

This contract presents a significant opportunity for local businesses involved in education, training, and transport services to engage with funded programmes aimed at enhancing youth employment skills. Such programmes can foster partnerships with local educational institutions and public sector bodies, potentially leading to future collaborations. Businesses that specialise in educational curriculum development, skills training, or in providing logistical support for student placements could find lucrative prospects in supporting the implementation of these learning initiatives. Participating in such tenders could enhance a company’s portfolio in public service execution and open channels for further engagements within the local government supply chain.
