Midlothian Council is seeking a contract or contracts for independent advocacy services for adults aged 16 and over in Midlothian. The work is divided between two service areas. One covers adults with a mental health condition, including dementia, and adults with physical disabilities, including older people. The other covers adults with a learning disability. This opportunity suits established independent advocacy organisations with the skills and capacity to support adults facing mental health conditions, dementia, physical disabilities or learning disabilities. Providers should be able to deliver both individual and collective advocacy, help service users understand and exercise their rights, communicate their views, and participate in care, treatment and statutory decisions. Experience of working with older adults and people involved in statutory processes is relevant to one service area, while learning-disability advocacy experience is relevant to the other. Suppliers must hold current membership of the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance and provide evidence of that membership. They will also need to demonstrate financial viability through two years of signed audited accounts or equivalent financial information. Successful providers must engage with Midlothian Council to identify and deliver community benefits for local people.
