Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process conducted by Argyll and Bute Council involved awarding a contract for "Calgary Cemetery - Further services for Full Archaeological Survey and Reporting", classified under General public services. The procurement pertains to the heritage and conservation industry, located in the UKM63 region, specifically Calgary Cemetery on Mull. The process was classified as an award without prior publication, aimed at securing an extensive archaeological survey due to specific site conditions. Key dates include the contract signing on 13th July 2026, with procurement stages reaching completion and the contract now active. The entire process aims to facilitate uninterrupted development of burial services in the area.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses with technical expertise in archaeological services, especially those with prior experience in the area or similar projects. As Argyll Archaeology was awarded the contract, indicating their specialised knowledge and previous project involvement, businesses with niche skills and knowledge of local heritage sites stand to benefit. The procurement process emphasised the need for specific technical knowledge, thus companies in the archaeological and heritage conservation sectors are particularly well-suited to compete in similar tenders, offering a pathway for business growth in highly specialised fields.
