The Reception, Collection and Treatment of Food Waste
Notice Description
The Council requires a suitably qualified contractor to provide the collection, reception, and treatment of food waste. The successful supplier will be responsible for receiving food waste delivered by the Council, collecting food waste from Council locations when required, and processing the waste through approved recycling methods such as anaerobic digestion or in-vessel composting in accordance with BSI PAS 110 or PAS 100 standards. A minimum of 95% of all food waste received under the contract must be recycled, producing quality compost and/or biogas outputs. The contract also includes food waste collected from commercial premises across the city; however, food waste collected from kerbside residential properties as part of the comingled garden waste service is excluded from the scope of this requirement.

The council requires a suitable contractor for the Collection, Reception, and Treatment of Food Waste. The supplier will be required to: - Receive Food Waste materials delivered by the council. - Collect Food Waste materials from council locations as requested by the council. - Process / Treat Food Waste to maximise the recycling either via anaerobic digestion, or in-vessel composting, meeting the requirements of BSI PAS 110, or BSI PAS 100. - It is a minimum requirement of this tender exercise is that 95% of all contract waste received will be recycled by the supplier or a nominated sub-contractor. The processed food waste will produce a quality compost and / or biogas output. A commercial food waste collection service is also provided to restaurants/bars within the city, and this waste stream is within the scope of the tender. Residents within kerbside properties collect their food waste comingled within their garden waste bin and the food waste from these properties is not within the scope of this tender.
