MMD Commercial Port Redevelopment - Demolition Works
Notice Description
Portsmouth City Council, 'the Authority', is inviting tenders from suitably qualified demolition contractors to demolish two Sheds (5&6) and the attached canteen/toilet block, covered walkway & 2Nr refrigeration units to ground level at MMD (Shipping Service) Ltd. located on Flathouse Quay, Prospect Road, Portsmouth PO2 7SP. The contract will be awarded on Friday 20th July 2018 and works due to commence on site Monday 13th August 2018. It is expected the on-site works will take 11 weeks to complete. The contract completion will be no later than Friday 26th October 2018 MMD is a commercial port located between the Naval Dockyard and Portsmouth International Port on Portsmouth Harbour. The site comprises a number of storage sheds, most of which are refrigerated and are used for the storage of fruit and vegetables. Two of the sheds are scheduled to be demolished with the ground covered by the footprint to be strengthened to allow the storage of shipping containers. The area of the sheds and accompanying buildings required for demolition are: o Shed 5 - 1911 metres squared o Shed 6 - 3635 metres squared A geotechnical investigation is currently being undertaken, the results of which would feed into the design of the pavement surface. The initial grounds investigation report is due in mid-July with the final report available in early August. No decision on the resurfacing can be made until the final report is received. The value of the contract for the Demolition Works is approximately ?200,000. The form of contract used will be NEC4 Engineering and Construction Short Contract. Set out below is the procurement timetable. Should the return deadline date change, all tenderers will be informed of this change via Intend.
