Summary of the contracting process

The Wiltshire Council is seeking tenders for a project titled "Automatic Traffic Counters," aimed at enhancing traffic monitoring through the use of traffic-monitoring equipment. This procurement falls under the planning stage and aims to gather market insights before formally proceeding. The engagement end date is set for 23rd February 2018, and the budget for this initiative is approximately £30,000. The project will primarily occur in the South West region of the United Kingdom, with a focus on employing technology to improve data collection methods at existing traffic counter sites.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in traffic-monitoring solutions and related technology. Companies that provide innovative traffic monitoring equipment, installation services, or data analysis tools would be particularly well-suited to compete in this procurement process. Engaging with Wiltshire Council during the planning stage may also provide valuable insights and enhance the potential for successful bids, ultimately contributing to business growth in the transport infrastructure sector.

Notice Title

Automatic Traffic Counters

Notice Description

For many years Wiltshire Council has maintained fixed automatic traffic counter sites (currently around 115) for monitoring traffic trends and providing other insights into traffic flows. These sites use inductive loops. With the exception of five telemetry sites commissioned in 2012, data has been collected by site visits. While this practice was essential in pre-telemetry days, it has continued because it allowed over a hundred sites to be monitored with a relatively small number of counters. This pre market engagement exercise seeks information from the market and is not a call for competition.
