Summary of the contracting process

The Portsmouth City Council is currently conducting a tender process for the "Coastal Engineering Minor Works Framework - Southern England - 2017-2021." This procurement falls within the construction work for water projects category and is aimed at suppliers who can deliver minor coastal engineering works along the south coast of England. The tender period is set to close on 6th June 2017, with the contract anticipated to commence on 17th July 2017 and continue until 16th July 2021. There will be three distinct lots available for bidding, and a bidders briefing session is scheduled for 11th May 2017 at Civic Offices, Portsmouth, allowing participants to gain insights into the procurement strategy and ask questions.

This framework presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in coastal engineering, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can handle low-value, non-complex civil works. With three lots varying in scope and financial thresholds, businesses focusing on services such as coastal maintenance, general coastal works, and beach management would find this tender particularly advantageous. Participating in this framework not only allows for contract win potential over a four-year period but also the chance to collaborate with a wide range of contracting authorities, enhancing business visibility and growth in the regional market.
