Summary of the contracting process

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, represented by the Cambridgeshire District Councils, is conducting a procurement process for adult education services as part of the Adult Education Budget for the period 2019-2022. This selective tender process involves a negotiated procedure and has a total estimated value of £4 million. The contract period is set to commence on 24 March 2019 and conclude on 31 July 2022, with the tender period having ended on 14 February 2019. Services will be delivered within the East of England region, primarily targeting adults aged 19 and above to enhance their employment capabilities and opportunities.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for training providers and educational service companies, particularly those specialising in adult education and skills training. Businesses that focus on engaging learners returning to education or seeking vocational skills, such as SMEs in the training sector or larger educational organisations, would be well-positioned to compete. Notably, this contract enables suppliers to engage with a diverse clientele across the populous Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region, enhancing prospects for growth and collaboration in vocational training and employment services.

Notice Title

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority - Adult Education Budget 2019-22

Notice Description

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority's (CPCA) intentions for the procured element of the devolved Adult Education Budget (AEB) only. The overall commissioning approach for AEB will involve a combination of plan-led grant funding and procured provision. This tender is concerned solely with the procured activity. The principal purpose of the AEB is to engage adults aged 19+ and provide them with the required skills enabling them to enter and sustain employment, an apprenticeship/traineeship, or other further learning. In the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region, devolution will enable adult skills provision and learning to be more flexible and agile in its application. The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area has a population of over circa 850,000 and it consists of six Local Authority districts - the cities of Cambridge and Peterborough, the rural districts of East Cambridgeshire, Fenland, Huntingdonshire, and South Cambridgeshire. Cambridgeshire and Peterborough's economic geography is defined by three labour market areas: * Peterborough and surroundings (including north Huntingdonshire) * The Fens (including Fenland, some of East Cambridgeshire and part of Huntingdonshire) * Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire (including southern parts of Huntingdonshire and East Cambridgeshire as a third)
