Medway Council, in line with the requirements of the Children Act 1989; Human Rights Act 1998, Care Standards Act 1999 Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and Children Act 2004 aims to offer support to vulnerable Looked After children and young people up to the age of 18, through the provision of an independent visitors scheme. The scheme will ensure that suitably trained independent volunteers visit, advise and befriend those Looked After Children and young people who have little or no contact with parents or family. The Provider is expected to offer support to children and young people up to the age of 18, who are Looked After or Care Leavers in Medway who have little or no contact with parents/family.
