The procurement is at the tender stage, with the deadline for submissions set for 11 January 2019. The project location is within the West Midlands, UK, covering all 1,450 kilometres of highways in the Walsall area, with treatments scheduled to begin in April 2019 and continuing through the contract's duration until March 2021. Notice Title

WP3476 - Highway Weed Control Programme

Notice Description

The Walsall Council area has circa 1450 kilometres of highways which are weed treated on an annual basis. The treatment is applicable to the whole width of the footpath including wall and fence footings, back edges, kerbs, channels, paved pedestrian areas, islands, furniture, walkways, passageways and back lanes. Spraying shall also include the full width of block paved and set paved carriageways including back lanes. An 'assignment' is defined as the complete weed treatment of all of Walsall's Highways. The majority of the works can be carried out by some form of ride on machine but there are areas i.e. alleyways, high density housing and town centres which will require treatment using hand held/carried applicators. The treatment generally commences during May and ends in June depending on weather conditions, as the treatment must not be applied during wet weather conditions. A second treatment may be requested at a later date if required, at the Council's discretion. Additional information: Is a Recurrent Procurement Type? : Yes
