Notice Description

Medway Council is seeking an organisation to deliver the Men in Sheds scheme for Medway. The scheme will deliver men in sheds projects in a number of different settings and localities within Medway, targeting men who are either retired or not in work and aged 25+. The service will deliver targeted mental health promotion to participants using a community development approach which will avoid relying on traditional institutional approaches of mainstream health and social care services. Key primary outcomes for this project will be improved mental wellbeing of the participants and/or reduced feelings of social isolation. The service will also be associated with a range of secondary outcomes, including increased uptake of health promotion activity, improved access to support and additional services, acquisition of practical skills, training or personal development, reduced risk of suicide and prevention or reduction in hospital admissions.
