Summary of the contracting process

The Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Pilot, led by Leicestershire County Council, aims to bolster electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the Midlands. This initiative, part of a successful consortium bid for LEVI pilot funding in 2022, engaged multiple councils including Lincolnshire, Herefordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, and Rutland. The procurement process concluded with the award of a concession contract to Gamma Energy Limited on 29th May 2024. The contract covers the installation and maintenance of 322 slow/standard and 27 rapid/ultra-rapid ChargePoint sockets, with 80 sites in Leicestershire operating under a revenue share model from 18th July 2024 to 17th July 2039. The total contract value is £200,000, with the procurement method described as 'Other'.

This tender represents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in electric vehicle infrastructure and maintenance. As the awarded contract includes both installation and long-term maintenance, companies experienced in these areas, particularly those capable of delivering sustainable and scalable EV charging solutions, would find this project exceptionally rewarding. The project’s long-term revenue model and partnership with local councils further promise stable and lucrative business prospects, reinforced by a clear move towards greener transportation solutions in the UK.
