Notice Title

VEAT646 Crewe Hub Station Campus - Finance and Funding Study

Notice Description

Network Rail is uniquely placed to work collaboratively with the Council to deliver the Integrated Study as they have already been appointed to undertake work in developing the rail infrastructure and associated station design at Crewe for HS2 by DfT/ HS2 Ltd. The scope of the Integrated Study in relation to the station campus is an extension of existing work to date, i.e. a change rather than a whole new piece of work. It will be taking into account the current ongoing design and look at ways of applying value engineering to ensure that the outcome is a legislation compliant, affordable station for the funding available from DfT together with any funding put forward by CEC to deliver enhancements to the station. The change request scope to develop an integrated station campus in addition to the current scope of the station will be part of the Network Rail GRIP 3 deliverables, although it will be funded in part by CEC and HS2GP. Hence the knowledge for the project lies with Network Rail and its sub contractors, consultants to gain the benefit of this experience and continue to meet the already constrained programme. Additional information: Network Rail are uniquely placed to continue this work and therefore there is absence of competition fortechnical reasons. Network Rail is the custodian of the UK rail network and is responsible for the day to day management ofdevelopments and improvements of that network. One of there main areas of interest are the rail stationsand associated infrastructure. The study being commissioned by CEC involves potential improvements toCrewe Station and surrounding area including considerable impacts on Network Rail existing assets; it alsoinvolves various alterations to the station design. On this basis Network Rail is uniquely positioned to developthe scheme related to this area and associated infrastructure and are an essential partner to CEC to make theproposals both acceptable and deliverable.
