Notice Information
Notice Title
NHS Antimicrobial Product Procurement (via Subscription Model)
Notice Description
NHS England (the "Authority") would like to invite potential suppliers to attend Market Engagement event(s) related to the planned procurement for the provision of Antimicrobial Products, via a Subscription Model Contract. This event(s) will enable potential suppliers to better understand and be given the opportunity to provide feedback, on the Authorities contracting model, planned procurement process and evaluation. The Authority will also hold a separate event to describe the Product Evaluation Process, as described in the section "ll.2.4" Please see section "II.2.4 - Description of the procurement" for further information regarding this opportunity. Additional information: Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is one of the most pressing global challenges faced this century. Already, AMR infections are estimated to cause 700,000 deaths each year globally. That figure is predicted to rise to 10 million, alongside a cumulative cost of $100 trillion, by 2050 if no action is taken. The UK Government has recognised AMR as a global problem and committed action to tackle it as a priority issue. In summary, NHS England will seek to model its contracting on WHO global approach to AMR and be based on antibiotic stewardship and infection prevention and control. For most antimicrobial products, there are few replacements or alternative products in development and even fewer that target priority pathogens; therefore, investment in novel antimicrobials is widely seen as commercially unattractive. NHS England recognised this problem and has built an innovative model that will pay companies a fixed annual fee for antibiotics (subscription model). Following success of the initial pilot phase and following market feedback, NHS England is planning to launch a procurement process, through a regulated procurement that will build on this the initial model and extend the supplier base. Due to the complexity of this procurement NHS England will hold two separate virtual engagement events whereby: 1. Event one will be held at 10:00hrs to 11:30hrs on the 23rd May 2024 and will provide a general overview of the project, NHS England requirements and outline of the procurement process. 2. Event two will be held at 11:00hrs to 13:00hrs on the 29th May 2024 to explain in more details the product evaluation process. NHS England will also make available the draft process documentation for Suppliers to review and provide any comments/feedback, via the links contained within the Introductory letter for NHS England to review. Therefore, NHS England would like to invite potential suppliers of antibiotics to register for these two separate events, by expressing their interest in attending via the following link, where more details and access to draft project documents will be given - https://atamis-1928.my.site.com/s/Welcome PROJECT C285236 In order to register interest potential suppliers should register with and use NHS England's e-procurement portal, which can be accessed by visiting following web link: https://atamis-1928.my.site.com/s/Welcome All information relating to this procurement will be available at the above-described e-procurement web portal.
