Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a contractor for the Advanced Engineering Apprentice Training programme, which involves training up to 90 apprentices annually at DE&S HQ Abbey Wood in Bristol and 15 at MOD Devonport, to attain qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Technical Support. This tender is currently in the planning stage, with the tender period closing on 13th January 2017. The contract is valued at £4.5 million and will commence on 31st March 2017, with a completion date set for 31st August 2024. The procurement method is selective, specifically a restricted procedure, and it falls under the category of technical training services.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in vocational and academic training services, particularly those familiar with apprenticeship frameworks and government funding mechanisms. Companies that are registered with the Skills Funding Agency and can deliver training within a reasonable distance of Bristol and Devonport are encouraged to participate. The contract includes provisions for personal development training and offers potential for additional tasking, making it suitable for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community social enterprises (VCSEs) that can adapt to the requirements of the MOD.
