Summary of the contracting process

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) has announced an Invitation To Tender for the supply of a Closed Cycle Optical Cryostat, aimed at enhancing its capabilities in superconducting quantum computing. This procurement falls under the goods category, specifically targeting laboratory, optical and precision equipment. The tender is currently active and will conclude on 8 January 2021. The associated contract period is set to commence on 2 February 2021 and will run until 31 March 2021. Prospective bidders should register through the LUPC Bravo e-Tendering portal to participate in this open procurement process, which surpasses the relevant financial thresholds.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in advanced laboratory equipment and superconducting technology. Companies engaged in the manufacturing of cryogenic probe stations or similar technologies, as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the optical and precision equipment sector, would be well-suited to compete. The ability to deliver high-quality, cryogen-free testing solutions, and expertise in automated measurement systems can provide a competitive edge in fulfilling NPL's requirements for innovative research and development applications.

Notice Title

Invitation To Tender - Supply of Closed Cycle Optical Cryostat

Notice Description

The department of quantum technology at NPL is extending its capability in the emerging area of superconducting quantum computing. As part of this NPL is seeking to enhance its capability to probe large-scale superconducting circuits. The National Physical Laboratory [NPL] requirement is for cryogenic probe station to be used for wafer-scale characterization of microfabricated superconducting circuits. The system should be cryogen free ("dry") and equipped with two DC and two RF probes (at least 18 GHz) and be able to cool samples to temperatures <5K. The system should accommodate 2" wafer. The system should preferably also be able to do automated DC testing of many devices (with identical contact pad geometries) on a wafer in a pre-programmed sequence. Whereas the system will primarily be used to probe cryogenic temperatures it is also important that it can be used for both DC and RF probing at room temperature. Additional information: 1.3 The Authority is using the LUPC Bravo e-Tendering portal to conduct the procurement process. All Tenderers must register their company via the LUPC Bravo Portal. This can be done via the following link https://lupc.bravosolution.co.uk/web/login.shtml Any issues surrounding access and functionality of the LUPC Bravo System must be directed to Bravo Helpdesk on +44 800 069 8630 or email help@bravosolution.co.uk
