Summary of the contracting process

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is conducting an open tender for the procurement of a tabletop scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray capability (SEM-EDX). This acquisition is categorized under goods, with a budget range of £50,000 to £100,000. The tender period is set to close on 19th November 2020, while the contract is expected to commence on 14th December 2020 and run until 13th December 2025. All proposals must include the costs for the complete system, warranty, and maintenance services due to the operational requirement in a non-air conditioned environment.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the scientific instrumentation sector, particularly those specialised in microscopy and analytical equipment. Companies equipped to deliver 'turn-key' systems, including hardware, software, and comprehensive support services, are ideally suited to compete. Additionally, businesses should be prepared to offer flexible pricing options, given that the budget for this project has yet to be confirmed. The opportunity will not only contribute to the museum’s scientific capabilities but can also enhance the portfolio of firms involved in the supply of advanced scientific research tools.
