Summary of the contracting process

Leidos Supply Limited procured the supply of safety footwear for military and civilian use, as a goods requirement within clothing and footwear. The requirement supports logistics commodities and services delivered on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence through Team Leidos. Delivery covers the United Kingdom, British Overseas Territories, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Europe and the rest of the world. The buying organisation is Leidos Supply Limited, based in Bristol. The scope is therefore relevant to manufacturers, distributors and logistics businesses supplying protective or safety footwear for both defence and civilian users, particularly those able to support delivery across the UK and international locations.

This procurement has been awarded and is complete. Leidos Supply Limited used an above-threshold open procedure. Bids closed on 21 November 2024 at 12:00 UTC. Iturri was awarded the contract on 7 January 2026 for GBP 2,900,000. The contract runs from 7 January 2026 to 6 January 2030. The award covers the full safety-footwear requirement rather than separately published lots. The procurement was identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises, while participation was not reserved for voluntary, community or social enterprises. The evaluation basis is not stated in the available procurement information. The contract is active and the selected supplier is Iturri.

Although this requirement has already been awarded, it provides a clear reference point for suppliers monitoring defence and public-sector demand. A credible future competitor would need to supply safety footwear suitable for both military and civilian users, with the operational capacity to serve the United Kingdom and the wider delivery territories covered by this buyer. Suppliers should be able to manage a sizeable, multi-year supply arrangement and work within a logistics delivery-partner environment supporting the Ministry of Defence. The opportunity is relevant to footwear manufacturers, specialist protective-equipment distributors and capable logistics providers. Smaller businesses may be well placed to compete, since the procurement was identified as suitable for SMEs, provided they can meet the requirement’s operational and information-security conditions.
