Summary of the contracting process

The University of Warwick is conducting a project titled "Benugo Bar & Kitchen Project," which is currently at the award stage after completing the tender process. This project aims to appoint a contractor for a Design & Build Contract to fit out concession areas at the Warwick Arts Centre located in Coventry, West Midlands. The tender was awarded to S & G Shopfitters Ltd on 20th October 2021, with the contract period running from 1st June 2021 to 10th September 2021. The project falls under the construction industry, particularly restaurant construction work, with a value of approximately £1,820,040.54 and requests contractors to have a variety of skills, including shop fitting and mechanical and electrical services.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for shop fitting contractors with experience in creating high-quality dining and bar environments. Businesses specialising in construction work for leisure and hospitality settings, along with those offering catering equipment and furniture, would benefit from the chance to showcase their capabilities. As this project involves working within a busy arts centre, contractors that excel at managing projects in live environments will find themselves well-suited for this type of work, offering potential for growth in similar future contracts.

Benugo Bar & Kitchen Project - AWARD

Notice Description

The University of Warwick are tendering to appoint a contractor, under a Design & Build Contract (JCT D&B 2016 with University of Warwick amendments), based on RIBA Stage 3 designs, to provide the wide range of skills and disciplines required to fit-out the concession areas. Following a tender process, the University of Warwick has appointed Benugo Ltd as the preferred concession partner, subject to contract, to operate a Premium High Street (recognised) Bar and Dining area and Theatre Bar Concept from our newly refurbished, expanded and radically transformed Warwick Arts Centre. Located in the very heart of our vibrant campus, Warwick Arts Centre is already one of the largest multi-art form venues in the UK, delivering a high quality, engaging, diverse programme of performing and visual arts. The redeveloped building will be fully accessible, environmentally sustainable and a hub for international class digital art, exhibitions and performances; including three state-of-the-art HD digital cinemas, a large ground floor gallery to exhibit some of the very best contemporary art, sculpture and photography. Tenders will be invited from appropriately experienced and qualified shop fitting contractors; to execute the works which will include (but not limited to) the construction of new partitions, ceilings, walls, and floor finishes, decorations, mechanical and electrical services, fabrication of bar serveries, backfittings, gantries and kitchen preparation areas, provision of catering equipment, furniture, fixtures and fittings including signage, etc. Also in-scope of area fit-out but not necessarily of this procurement exercise, will be the provision of associated products and items of equipment which will include (but not limited to) pizza ovens, catering equipment, light fittings, tills, artwork and graphics. The supply, delivery and installation of such will need to be programmed and coordinated as part of the shopfitting contractor works. This project will require the successful contractor to be working in a live and busy environment populated by staff, students and the general public.
