Notice Title

KCL-00000991 KTLS18 King's Transnational Law Summit 2018

Notice Description

KTLS18 King's Transnational Law Summit The Dickson Poon School of Law at King's College London will host the King's Transnational Law Summit (KTLS18) in London, UK between 10-13 April 2018. The event is centred around the theme of Creating Justice for our Future and is a critical reflection on the place of lawyers and of law in a world in flux. This unique event creates a space of inquiry into, and real-world oriented engagement with, the changing conditions for legal practice and legal training and will bring together new and leading voices from around the world. It is our hope to develop KTLS18 into a sustainable conference platform, which could be convened every other year (subject to funding) and thus offer an important meeting point for an ongoing collaboration of some of the most important challenges the present and future generations are facing. KTLS18 is taking place at a crucial moment of continuing and deepening political change, domestically, regionally, and globally. The challenge of how to effectively and collectively address climate change, economic, political, gender and racial inequality, migration and displacement, security and the ever-faster emergence of new data-driven governance forms demands answers, and a renewed involvement in political and civic engagement. This can only be developed by 'outside-the-box' thinking and interdisciplinary engagement, and by more effectively identifying the ways of breaking down the walls between theory and practice. KTLS18 is a King's College London initiative and all branded collateral must sit firmly within the confines of the King's brand, promoting the university, the faculty and the conference at one and the same time.
