Summary of the contracting process

The Victoria and Albert Museum is currently in the tender stage for the procurement of a polarised light microscope, with the title "GB-London: Polarised Light Microscope". This procurement falls under the goods category, specifically focusing on fluorescent and polarising microscopes. The contract will be delivered in London, UK, and is open for submissions until 24 November 2020. The total budget for this project is estimated between £50,000 and £100,000, and the contract is scheduled to commence on 4 January 2021, lasting until 31 December 2024. The method selected for this procurement is an open procedure, with potential tenders encouraged to include all associated costs, including a one-year warranty and four years of preventive maintenance.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in scientific equipment and laboratory services. Businesses that manufacture or supply polarising microscopes or related technologies, as well as those offering maintenance and support services for such equipment, would be particularly well-suited to compete. The invitation for innovative quotes also suggests that there is room for alternative solutions, making this a versatile opportunity for suppliers looking to expand their presence within the museum and conservation sectors.
