Notice Description

The Department for Education (DfE) is seeking to procure, via an expression of interest (EOI) a lead drafter and advisory panel members to develop non-statutory guidance for languages education for 7- to 14-year-olds. The role of the lead drafter will include: i. Leading on writing the guidance, confirming the content under the guidance of an expert panel and providing draft text in a timely way so that the guidance is agreed and published within set timescales; ii. Attending approximately 5 online panel meetings over a 12-month period; iii. Reflecting the comments of the expert panel in your drafting; iv. Producing a finalised guidance document within a specific timeframe. The role of the advisory panel will include: i. Engaging with the sector on what is the best means of approaching the guidance; ii. Attending approximately 5 online panel meetings over a 12-month period; iii. Making suggestions for content, commenting on draft iterations of the guidance document and collating relevant information; iv. Discerning good practice for incorporation into written guidance; The lead drafter and advisory panel will produce a document that seeks to improve transition between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, benchmarking expected attainment levels, and assisting, in the longer term, in improving the uptake of languages at GCSE level and beyond. The non-statutory guidance is due to be published in late 2023. There are two EOI Response Forms relevant to each of the roles. If you want to apply for both roles you will have to fill in both templates, however there is overlap in criteria where we are happy for you to copy your answers over. The closing date for completing the EOI response forms is 11:59 4th November.
