Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process concerns the "RDP Major Civil Works" project, being undertaken by Sellafield, operating under the Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) division. This major civil engineering initiative aims to ensure long-term environmental protection at the LLW Repository facility located near Drigg Village in Cumbria, England. Currently in the planning stage, the anticipated value of this tender is between £140 million and £180 million, with an expected duration of 8 to 10 years. This tender presents significant opportunities for construction and engineering firms, particularly those specialising in large-scale civil works, environmental services, and related logistics. Businesses that can offer innovative solutions, project management capabilities, and collaboration expertise will be well-positioned to compete effectively. The engagement with the market ahead of the contract signifies an intent to foster partnerships, making this a favourable prospect for SMEs aiming to expand their portfolio in public sector projects related to nuclear waste management and environmental safety.
