Notice Title

Consultancy Opportunity: Risky Seafood Business Report in the UK

Notice Description

Seafood consumption in the UK has an immense global footprint; as a nation we imported seafood from almost 90 different countries in 2019. Within the last decade, the seafood trade in the UK has increased by 47% from near PS3,600 million in 2010 to almost PS5,300 million in 2019. UK fisheries meet part of the UK demand but over 60% of our seafood currently consumed is imported from other parts of the world. WWF-UK is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced consulting firm or individual to produce a report that will map and analyse seafood commodities for direct consumption, including marine species that are used as feed in aquaculture. The report will inform WWF-UK's seafood and fisheries policy development in order to align with WWF's target of bringing about systemic change in our food system, namely halving the UK's food system impacts by 2030 through consumption and production driven ocean biodiversity loss (e.g. overfishing, habitat destruction, endangered species mortality). We envisage a seafood supply chain mapping approach at the national or seascape/sea basin level of the sourcing countries. Please refer to the attached Terms of Reference document for full details of the report aims, objectives and priority topics. WWF would welcome proposals from interested consultants by 17 January 2021. Proposals should clearly outline suggested methodologies and how the Terms of Reference shall be delivered. Proposals should also provide a realistic but ambitious timeline, resources allocation on delivering the report, demonstration of relevant experience and a detailed fee proposal. Responses (and any pre-response clarification questions) should be sent by email to the nominated point of contact, Clarus Chu, Seafood Manager, WWF-UK (email cchu@wwf.org.uk). Additional information: Responses should be sent by email to the nominated point of contact, Clarus Chu, Seafood Manager, WWF-UK (email cchu@wwf.org.uk). WWF-UK would prefer to contract these services using the attached standard terms and conditions. Your response should indicate your acceptance of these terms or include details of any alternatives that you would propose.
