Tenders are invited to conduct the fieldwork for the British Election Study Internet Panel (BESIP). The supplier selected will be expected to be primarily responsible for the sample design and selection of the sample; the testing and implementation of the survey; and the production and delivery of data including weights; all under the guidance of the project team. The questionnaire content will be supplied by the BES team. The supplier will be responsible for the conduct of interviews and for the timely delivery of 'clean' SPSS or Stata formatted datasets based on those interviews and linked with individual and aggregate-level data where agreed. The British Election Study is one of the longest social science survey series. It has taken place at every general election since 1964, covering a sequence of 15 general elections and accumulating data over a period of more than 50 years. The studies have won high public and academic recognition and have made a major contribution to the understanding of election outcomes and political attitudes and behaviour. The data generated from each successive study are deposited with the UK Data Service and widely used. The BES, which is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), is considered one of the 'crown jewels' of British Political Science research resources.
