Summary of the contracting process

The Tate Gallery, located in London, is currently seeking tenders for a project titled "High Value Digital Asset (HVDA) Storage", aimed at upgrading their storage infrastructure for an extensive collection of digital art assets. This procurement process is at the tender stage, with the deadline for submissions set for 12:00 on 19th August 2019. The total value of the contract is estimated at £500,000, with a minimum value of £100,000. The procurement follows an open procedure, and the contract period is expected to commence on 16th September 2019 and conclude on 15th September 2026, covering services related to data storage.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in data storage solutions, particularly those with expertise in scalable hardware and integration with existing software systems. Companies that design and implement innovative storage solutions, particularly large firms rather than small and medium-sized enterprises, would be well-suited to compete for this contract. The need for long-term preservation and integrity of digital files may also offer chances for organisations specialising in digital asset management and archival services.

Notice Title

GB-London: Tate Gallery - High Value Digital Asset (HVDA) Storage

Notice Description

NOTE: This notice was updated on 08 August 2019 for the following reason: Amending the deadline for responses to 19/08/2019 at 12:00.(Tate has 6 sites, comprising 4 galleries and 2 storage facilities, which holds the national collection of British art from 1 500 to the present day and international modern and contemporary art, along with an extensive library, archive and public records collection. Tate's mission is to promote the public understanding and enjoyment of these works and artefacts. Tate's digitised collection is stored on an existing infrastructure, which facilitates the management, preservation and access to these works. It is this storage which requires upgrading and replacing due to the age of the existing hardware. As such, there is a requirement for a storage hardware solution that will ensure the long-term preservation and integrity of these digital files. The solution must be scalable as Tate has a large volume of digital assets that will need to be migrated into this storage solution, as well as an increasing volume of digital assets being created and acquired. Any hardware solution must work with Tate's existing software solutions. This High Value Digital Asset (HVDA) Storage forms the basis of this tender.)
