Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Supply Chain is conducting an open procurement process to acquire safety glasses for the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Programme (PIPP). The procurement aims to ensure a reliable supply of safety glasses, which will be distributed across the UK to support Public Health England and the devolved administrations in response to pandemic scenarios. This framework agreement, valued at approximately £1,705,000, has a potential duration of 48 months, with the contract expected to commence on 1 April 2017 and last until 31 March 2021. The tender period concluded on 31 October 2016, and delivery addresses include various regions across the UK.

This procurement presents significant business opportunities, particularly for suppliers specialising in personal protective equipment and healthcare-related products. Businesses that can offer timely delivery and meet health and safety regulations will be well-placed to compete, especially those with "Just In Time" supply capabilities. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to apply, as they may play a crucial role in supporting the healthcare system during emergencies.
