Summary of the contracting process

The Bradford Metropolitan District Council is currently undertaking a public procurement process titled "Smart Street Lighting". This project aims to enhance the street lighting infrastructure in the Yorkshire and the Humber region by replacing old luminaires with LED units, conducting surveys on approximately 56,500 street light assets, and replacing over 15,000 columns. The open procedure for this tender is active, with a submission deadline of 25th November 2019. The total budget allocated for this initiative is £35 million, further underscoring its significance in the works category of public procurement.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses focused on street lighting equipment, installation, and maintenance services. As the project requires thorough surveys, design work, and installation, companies specialised in electrical engineering, urban infrastructure, and energy-efficient solutions would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are also encouraged to participate, potentially leveraging their agility and local knowledge to meet the council's requirements effectively.
