Notice Description

Lincolnshire CCGs are considering procuring a community based pain management service. The aim of the service is patients self-managing in primary care. A key objective will be to assess and treat patients within a multidisciplinary model; having access to a range of disciplines and high quality interventions that can deal with the physical, psychological, social and behavioural needs of patients with chronic pain. We expect development of a local network for managing patients with chronic pain. Initially the focus will be MSK conditions (including neurological) with a view to expanding the service beyond MSK Neurological conditions. In 15/16 the 4 CCGs coded the following Pain Management activity: * 3,355 admissions * Delivered 15,047 outpatient appointments with 8556 pain management procedures * 3127 inpatient appointments * Prescribed 276,159 opioids * Prescribed (excluding Opioid analgesics) 3.4m items We are looking for ideas on what should / could be delivered in the community. Commissioners are seeking expressions of interest from interested parties to further understand the market capability to respond to and deliver such a service. The county has a diverse geography with large rural and agricultural areas, few urban areas, poor traffic infrastructure, many market towns and villages, including a long eastern coastline. There is seasonal fluctuation in population and employment. 15.8% of the Lincolnshire population are aged 0-14 years compared with 17.3% in England overall, 9.9% are aged 75 years or over, compared with 7.8% in England overall. The population is estimated to increase by varying amounts in each CCG by 2034: * Lincolnshire East is expected to grow 12.67% * Lincolnshire West is expected to grow 10.65% * South Lincolnshire is expected to grow 16% * South West Lincolnshire is expected to grow by 13.71% .
