Summary of the contracting process

The Cambridge City Council is conducting a tender for the "Creative Space Survey" with a focus on the cultural and creative industries within the Greater Cambridge area. The procurement method is an open procedure, and the tender period concludes on 11 December 2020. The estimated value of the contract is £10,000, and it aims to address the shortage of creative workspace necessary for supporting local arts and cultural organisations. The contract is expected to commence on 4 January 2021 and run until 31 March 2021, with deliveries to take place in the East of England, United Kingdom.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in planning and policy consultation, particularly those with expertise in the creative sector and knowledge of the local area. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to submit proposals, as the councils are seeking experienced consultants to conduct in-depth analyses that could help shape the future of creative workspaces in the region. Engaging in this tender could enable businesses to expand their portfolios and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of Greater Cambridge.

Notice Title

Cambridge City Council - Creative Space Survey

Notice Description

Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council have identified the cultural and creative industries as an area of local economic growth. Several recent studies, engagement sessions and consultations have been conducted that highlight a shortage of creative workspace in Greater Cambridge required to support Greater Cambridge's thriving community of arts and cultural organisations, venues, creative businesses and start-ups, freelancers and groups. Unlike many other cities, Greater Cambridge does not benefit from having a supply of post-industrial buildings that can be converted to suit the needs of creative businesses. Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council are seeking a consultant to provide a detailed report that quantifies the creative workspace shortage and potential future needs, and the spatial, practical, and technical requirements for different types of workspace used by the cultural and creative industries. The two Councils are seeking a contractor with a good level of knowledge of planning and policy, the Greater Cambridge area, the different types and usages of creative workspace, and practical experience of identifying the requirements of such spaces. Proposals are now invited from suitably experienced consultants.
