Summary of the contracting process

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is seeking a contractor to undertake remedial works on the historic vessel HMS Warrior, which is used as a public museum in Portsmouth's historic dockyard. The project, titled "HMS Warrior Dry Dock Project- De-Risking Works," falls under the civil engineering category, with a procurement method of open procedure (above threshold). This tender, currently in the tender amendment stage, has extended its deadline to 13th September 2024 due to clarification requirements. The contract period will span from 30th September 2024 to 29th September 2029, with an allocated budget of £2 million, initially supported by £300,000 of approved funding for the first year.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the construction and civil engineering sectors. With a long-term project scope focused on vital structural works, particularly on the stern and the double bottom of HMS Warrior, businesses skilled in historical maritime renovation and large-scale remedial works stand to benefit significantly. Interested parties are encouraged to email tenders@nmrn.org.uk for additional documentation and are urged to attend site visits as detailed in the Invitation to Tender prepared by Beckett Rankine.
