Summary of the contracting process

The Nottinghamshire County Council has initiated a tender process for the provision of Switch-On book packs, which are essential in their literacy intervention programme aiming to support struggling readers and writers. These book packs will be supplied to schools across the UK under a framework agreement lasting up to 4 years. The tender is currently in the open stage, with a tender period ending on 27th October 2023 and a contract period starting on 1st December 2023 until 30th November 2025. The procurement falls under the main procurement category of services related to printed books.

This tender opportunity from Nottinghamshire County Council presents a chance for businesses involved in supplying educational materials or services to contribute to the Switch-On intervention and benefit from a potentially long-term contractual relationship. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to participate due to the suitability criteria set by the Council for this procurement. Businesses located in the United Kingdom, especially those in the education and publishing industries, are well-suited to compete for this contract under an open procurement procedure.

Notice Title

Switch-On - Book Packs

Notice Description

Switch-on is a research and evidence-based literacy intervention developed by Nottinghamshire County Council. It aims to enable struggling readers and writers to make accelerated progress and in turn to have a positive effect on their life chances. The one-to-one intervention requires a trained adult to teach pupils to read using books from a Switch-on book pack. The book packs are an essential requirement in the implementation of Switch-on, containing books from a wide variety of publishers and catering for differing interests and age groups. These books are carefully chosen and finely levelled by Switch-on developers. Nottinghamshire County Council will direct schools to a supplier of the book packs who will deal with schools' enquiries, orders and deliveries directly. Participating schools are based across the UK. The Framework agreement would be for an initial term of 24 months with an option to extend for a further 2 periods of 12 months meaning the Framework agreement could run for a maximum of 4 years (48 months).
