Summary of the contracting process

The University of Leeds is currently undertaking a tender for the procurement of a drop shape tensiometer, aimed at enhancing the research capabilities within its School of Food Science and Nutrition. This procurement falls under the goods category and is being conducted through an open procedure. The tender period closed on 11 November 2016, while the contract period will commence on 23 December 2016 and continue until 23 December 2017. The delivery location for the items is mainly within the Yorkshire and the Humber region, specifically at the university's address in Leeds (LS2 9JT).

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in scientific instruments, particularly those manufacturing or supplying testing and measurement equipment. Companies that can offer a user-friendly control and data acquisition system for the suggested application, especially those experienced in catering to academic and research environments, would be well-positioned to compete. This could lead to significant growth, as successful bidders may establish long-term relationships with the University of Leeds and potential future repeat business.

Notice Title

F/2699 - Drop Shape Tensiometer

Notice Description

The School of Food Science and Nutrition which is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the University of Leeds, undertakes a diverse range of fundamental scientific principles to addressing issues of food quality with collaborators across the university campus, external institutions and organisations. It is seeking tenders for a drop shape tensiometer to complement the facilities offered within its soft matter research. The control and data acquisition system must be versatile and straightforward to use. The data generated must be exportable in standard formats for analysis using other proprietary software, such as Matlab, LabView or Excel etc. The tensiometer will be primarily used by dedicated academic technical staff, postdoctoral researchers, PhD student and project students. Such a group will possess a range of expertise and so it is important that the system has an intuitive interface and that it is inherently easy to use.
