Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence has awarded a contract for the "Provision of IDXA Scanners Maintenance" under the Services category, specifically for the repair and maintenance services of medical equipment (CPV code: 50421000). This contract, valued at £121,156.21, requires a comprehensive 5-year multi-site maintenance agreement with GE Healthcare, covering the Lunar IDXA systems at both the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick and the Army Training Centre in Pirbright. Key contract dates include the end of the tender period on 20 March 2025 and the contract duration from 21 March 2025 to 20 March 2030. The procurement method was carried out under specific supplier terms and conditions and has now reached the award stage.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities, particularly for large-scale companies with expertise in providing long-term maintenance and servicing of advanced medical equipment. The awarded contract not only ensures compliance with safety regulations but also supports ongoing health and performance research within the military. Businesses capable of delivering robust support, including emergency call-outs and software updates, would be well-suited to compete in similar future procurements. Although this specific opportunity does not cater to SMEs or VCSEs, analogous contracts may arise for other sophisticated medical systems requiring specialised maintenance services.
