Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) procured data warehouse migration and cloud platform services, classified under IT consulting, software development, internet and support services (CPV 72000000). The requirement covers designing, developing and deploying an alpha cloud data platform; migrating approximately 150 terabytes of data from the legacy platform; and overseeing decommissioning of existing on-premises data infrastructure through beta and into live operation. The service also includes technical enablement, operational support, knowledge transfer and readiness for DWP staff. Delivery is centred on DWP’s digital and wider business teams, with the buyer based in Blackpool and delivery spanning the United Kingdom and wider locations.

The procurement is complete and was awarded through a selective call-off from a framework agreement. Credera Limited received the contract on 18 September 2026 for £6,065,502.50 including the published award value. The contract runs from 21 September 2026 to 20 September 2028. The wider procurement was estimated at between £6,065,502 and £9,098,254, and the tender submission deadline was 17 September 2026 at 4pm. Evaluation led to an active award. The work had to align with DWP governance standards, including Digital Design Authority and Red Lines Assessment requirements, and involve collaborative engagement with stakeholders across digital and business functions.

This award indicates demand for suppliers able to deliver a substantial public-sector data warehouse transformation, combining cloud architecture, platform engineering, data migration and legacy infrastructure decommissioning. A credible competitor for similar DWP work would need capacity to plan and execute migration of roughly 150 terabytes while maintaining service continuity and minimising disruption. Relevant capability includes designing and deploying cloud-native data platforms through alpha, beta and live stages, supporting operational transition, and transferring knowledge to client teams. Suppliers should also be able to work within formal government governance, satisfy design and assurance controls, engage stakeholders across a large department, and provide sustained technical support. The opportunity was identified as suitable for SMEs.
