Notice Title

For the Design and Delivery of the Exhbition for the new Fusion Expo

Notice Description

For years EUROfusion used a travelling exhibition Called "Fusion Expo" as its main outreach tool. The main objective was to exhibit fusion energy research to the public with the aim of educating the public and explaining the problems with fusion power, the research that has currently been completed and the future goals. EUROfusion Wishes to build a new version of its outreach activity to both fix the previous "Fusion Expo" weaknesses and align with the European Commission's "Horizon 2020" recommendations. Consequently, these objectives assigned to the new Fusion Expo are a wider range and more complex set of requirements. These Requirements are as follow: 1. With the new "'Fusion Expo" EUROfusion must provide a platform for the public to discuss the criticism raised by fusion energy research, such as the cost and the effectiveness of the research and an articulated position toward renewable energies. 2. "Fusion Expo" must embody the most appealing aspect of fusion sciences: its cutting edge, visionary and modern angle. 3. "Fusion Expo" must be a convenient communication tool, for the environment fusion research is confronted with: For instance, if the exhibition must remain fitted for the shoulders of the research units that are supposed to communicate with, it must also address the current needs for participatory practices from the citizens and the increasing occurrence of the bottom-up communication between organization and citizens. 4. "Fusion Expo" will be a clear, fun and didactic exploration of the fusion research context spanning from the theoretical background and Epistemology to its current state. 5. We must create a medium comprehensive enough to allow visitors without any technical background to become up to date with the current research & development processes and outcomes. Consequently, the new "Fusion Expo" will provide the public with first and foremost, a general, informal and entertaining content. 6. Fusion is not a familiar topic and in order to allow the visitors to become engaged societal actors, we also need to inform them thoroughly about the fusion fields, devices, investments and outcomes. 7. Yet, the exhibition must be a democratic tool that raises the citizens' concerns in the best qualitative and quantitative form possible to the science community and the elected representatives. This also implies that the exhibition must hold an efficient feedback tool.
