Summary of the contracting process

The tender titled "Iron Ochre Settlement Lagoon Desludge and Disposal Programme" is being planned by the National Coal Mining Museum for England Trust Ltd, located at Caphouse Colliery, Overton, near Wakefield (WF4 4RH). The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with an estimated budget of £60,000 for the period from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018. This tender aims to secure a contractor to manage the environmentally friendly extraction of waste ochre from lagoon sites, with key dates for future notices anticipated on 6 November 2017 and operations likely commencing on 1 January 2018, continuing throughout the year until 31 December 2018.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in waste management, environmental services, and transport services, particularly those experienced in handling similar materials and operations in public areas. Companies offering innovative extraction solutions, including liquid, semi-liquid, or solid waste processing, would be particularly well-suited to compete. Given the nature of the site as a visitor attraction, businesses that can demonstrate minimal disruption to operations and aesthetically pleasing results will have a competitive advantage. Potential suppliers are encouraged to engage early and contribute their suggestions during the planning phase.

Notice Title

Iron Ochre Settlement Lagoon Desludge and Disposal Programme - Future Opportunity Notice

Notice Description

The National Coal Mining Museum for England is aware of the need to manage our waste effectively, efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner. In line with our objectives we will look to appoint a contractor to assist in the extraction of waste ochre from the settlement lagoons on site at Caphouse Colliery, Overton, Near Wakefield, WF4 4RH. The waste must be removed from the settlement lagoons with the minimum level of disruption on site and with the minimum level of impact aesthetically, functionally and environmentally. As the site is part of the National Coal Mining Museum for England visitors and guests may be on site so any solution must bear that in mind. We will welcome proposals involving the removal of waste ochre sludge in liquid, semi-liquid or solid forms. Any engagement at this stage may determine if one solution is deemed more preferable or high scoring than others however initially we are open to suggestions from suppliers, contractors and interested parties. It would be the intention to conduct any desludge operation at regularly scheduled intervals until any future policy or programme is instituted to replace it. Due to other developments and trials on site Details will be included in the full tender documentation. Further details will be made available and any enquiries at this stage will be readily welcomed. Site visits will be an expected part of any PQQ process once ITT documents are posted.
