Contract Summary
The Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) is a dedicated regeneration delivery vehicle which was officially created by the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, in September 2019. It is a partnership between the Mayor, Stockport Council, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and Homes England and was the first MDC in the country to focus on redevelopment of a town centre. The Stockport MDC is tasked with delivering up to 4,000 new homes in the 130 acres of Stockport's Town Centre West (see Appendix 1) along with up to 1,000,000ft2 of new employment floorspace and the necessary social infrastructure, greenspace, and public realm required to support a growing residential population. The MDC will deliver these outcomes in line with the Strategic Regeneration Framework for Town Centre West produced by Stockport Council in 2019.
