Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is procuring works to manufacture and install precast reinforced-concrete anti-propagation barriers in the GOLF Dispersal area at RAF Akrotiri, Akrotiri, Cyprus, supporting British Forces operations. The successful contractor must establish and operate a dedicated casting compound on Akrotiri Station for producing the barrier units, then install them on site. Delivery must follow issued-for-construction drawings, project specifications, site-specific setting-out coordinates and instructions from the Client. This is a specialist civil engineering and precast-concrete opportunity, suited to contractors able to manage both off-site-style production facilities established on the station and the associated installation works in a controlled operational environment.

The procurement has reached tender: the buyer invited offers through a limited procedure using competitive quotation below the threshold. The tender return deadline is 9 September 2026 at 23:59 UK time; companies wishing to participate must return the completed expression of interest form and Pre-Qualification Questionnaire electronically by 12:00 EET on the same date. The stated contract period runs from 30 November 2026 to 26 March 2027. The estimated value is £500,000, in GBP. The published project timetable places contract award on 30 November 2026 and work commencement on 7 December 2026. The opportunity is presented as a single requirement, with participation subject to the pre-qualification and expression-of-interest process.

This opportunity suits small and medium-sized enterprises with experience in precast reinforced-concrete manufacture, temporary or dedicated casting-compound setup, and civil engineering installation. Strong candidates will be able to produce consistent, durable barrier units, interpret and work accurately from issued-for-construction drawings and project specifications, and use site-specific coordinates for setting out. Contractors also need the practical capacity to mobilise personnel, plant, materials and quality controls to RAF Akrotiri, establish the required compound on the station, and complete installation safely within a British Forces environment. Suppliers must complete the required pre-qualification and expression-of-interest paperwork; firms with a PQQ submitted during the previous 12 months can provide details of that submission instead of resubmitting it.
